Red Snapper


We will be making a traditional Creole Dish filled with fresh ingredients, flavor, and a little Creole Kick!.  

The meal is quite easy to make.  It should take us about 30 - 45 minutes, but there is some pre-work that will make preparation easy.  Below you will find the list of ingredients you will need, the utensils and what you will need to have done prior to our event.

Red Fish 4


  • ½ cup olive oil or vegetable oil

  • ½ cup all-purpose flour 

  • ¼ cup chopped onion

  • ½ green bell pepper chopped

  • ½ red bell pepper chopped

  • 4 cloves garlic, chopped or
    2 teaspoons minced garlic

  • ½ cup chopped celery

  • 3 (16 ounce) cans stewed tomatoes

  • ¼ teaspoon salt

  • ¼ teaspoon pepper

  • ¼ teaspoon dried thyme

  • ¼ teaspoon dried basil

  • ¼ teaspoon dried oregano

  • 1 teaspoon Creole seasoning (optional)

  • 1 bay leaf

  • 4 pounds red snapper fillets
    also known as Rock Fish

  • 1 - 2 cups cooked rice

Tools You Need:

1 Medium to large pot with a lid or deep skillet

1 baking dish large enough to all pieces of fish
    hold them in a single layer

1 small pot with lid for rice

1 Liquid Measuring cup

1 Dry measuring cup

1 Set of Measuring spoons

1 Cutting board

1 Knife for dicing

1 - 2 Large wooden or kitchen spoons

Chop Vegetables

  1. Chop Onions and Bell Peppers, place in ziplock bag or sealed container.
